UPDATE: NativesOutdoors COVID-19 Fundraiser
In early May, we asked influencers, partners, supporters, friends, and family to contribute to our COVID-19 fundraiser to combat the virus’ spread and impact on some of the hardest-hit regions in the United States: indigenous communities in the Southwest, including the Navajo Nation, Pueblos, and surrounding tribal regions.
We raised $10,000, funds that were critical in making the following work possible. This is not including the additional monetary donations that you all made directly to groups on our list of vetted organizations.
The Natives Outdoors team delivered and donated 13,000 masks, 65 gallons of hand sanitizer, 20,000 cliff bars and other supplies to 16 community organizations, tribes, chapter houses, and other organizations serving native populations.
One of these organizations was Rockpoint Lutheran Mission, school and clinic run by Patterson Yazzie (pictured here) where we delivered 58 handmade masks from NY, 3,000 Masks from Patagonia, and 2 boxes of hand sanitizer.
This work could not have been done without the help of Len’s mom Maggie, pictured here, who manually processed print orders with Tara Kerzhner and helped and is still coordinating countless donation drop-offs.
While we are still working to support efforts to stamp the virus out and keep our families, children, and elders safe, we’re pleased to give this update on what our community of supporters has made possible in the past few months. We also plan on donating an additional 20,000 masks by the end of the year.
The work continues. Consider donating, or sharing.
