NativesOutdoors vetted COVID-19 relief funds for Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico *Updated 5.22.20*
We at NativesOutdoors are being asked to recommend COVID-19 relief funds to which people can make financial contributions to help native and indigenous communities address the impacts of COVID-19. To meet this request, we compiled this evolving list of COVID-19 relief funds. We have done background research on each relief fund, and its financial sponsor, to ensure we are comfortable recommending them as recipients of your financial contributions. Our criteria for this list are that: the relief fund directly impacts native and indigenous communities; there is accountability and credibility built into the relief fund or financial sponsor; and the relief fund works as much as possible with any existing infrastructure. Donations to most of the listed relief funds are tax deductible under IRS 501(c)(3) or another tax exempt status. We at NativesOutdoors personally know many of the relief funds’ organizers because they are working in our home communities, and we are confident in their abilities and intentions to make the greatest positive impact in Indian Country.
